Calling All Photographers

Join us in celebrating the 2021 announcement of the 10 Most Endangered Historic Place in Mississippi! This year we’ll be hosting a photo competition by way of digital and social media. Our jury will make a selection of 25 photographs to be on exhibition at the October 21st event that capture the beauty, mystery, and promise of Mississippi’s fragile architectural legacy.

Here’s the deal:

  • Anyone can participate! Art and preservation go hand-in-hand and everyone is welcome.

  • Participants are invited to photograph images of places that have been listed as one of Mississippi’s 10 Most Endangered Historic Places since 1999.  A list of these 110 sites can be found below. For a more in-depth look, you can found out more about them on our site under Past Lists.

  • Submissions can be made by social media! Be sure to tag us, hashtag your photos, and let us know which 10 Most site is in your photo! You’re also welcome to email us digital submissions at preservation@mississippiheritage.com.

    • Instagram: @msheritage / Facebook: Mississippi Heritage Trust

    • Hashtag: #10MostMS2021

    • Include which 10 Most site is in the photo

  • Deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on September 1, 2021.

  • Our jury of experienced photographers will curate an exhibition from submitted images that will be displayed at the announcement of the 2021 list of the 10 Most Endangered Places in Mississippi, to be held on Thursday, October 21st at The Faulkner, Downtown Jackson.

  • Photographers whose work is selected will be honored guests at the announcement event.

  • The selected works will be printed, framed, and exhibited during the announcement event. These framed selections will be available for sale at a price set by MHT and will be considered a donation by the artist. Artists will receive a receipt for their donation.

  • During the event on Thursday, October 21st and a year following, these 25 selected works will be available to the public to purchase online. Photographers will receive 30% of the proceeds from the sale of their work at 6 months and at 1 year after public release after the online sale is closed. They may also choose to donate their percentage to MHT and will receive a receipt of their donation.

  • A digital exhibition will be shared on www.10mostms.com following the announcement event. Other submissions may be displayed on the 10 Most website at the discretion of MHT, but will not be for sale.
